The Capital Region Human Resource Association (CRHRA) recently announced the newly elected officers and members of its Board of Directors for 2010-2011. Officers include Tracy Spargo of Pitney Bowes, President; Harry Hayes of New Visions, Vice President; Miriam Dushane of Linium, Secretary; Thomas McKenna of McKenna & Assoc., Treasurer. New GE Battery factory in Schenectady closer to reality

General Electric in Schenectady, NY is inching closer to make its new battery factory a reality. The company says it will create 350 new jobs and the project is set to begin construction next month.

Women, Management and Leadership

Union Graduate College is hosting a national conference on August 2, 2010 entitled:

Women, Management and Leadership: Organizational Practices and Individual Strategies for Women

This conference will bridge research with organizational practice in the area of women and leadership. Presentations will be given by scholars, advocates, attorneys and management consultants throughout the United States. Presentations will be given on the following topics: work/life balance, glass ceiling, women legislative leaders, mentoring, women leaders in medicine and health, women's government network and women in management.

In addition, local companies will discuss their own diversity programs for recruiting, hiring and promoting women leaders and managers.

Two keynote addresses will also be included in the conference. Pat Mitchell, President and CEO of the Paley Center for Media and Karen Gross, President of Southern Vermont College.

This conference is part of Union Graduate College’s commitment to educating graduate students and community members with the “skill and vision to lead.”

The HR Certification Institute has approved this conference for 2.5 general credit hours.
